About

Glasgow Stags University Ice Hockey Club
The Glasgow Stags, a prominent ice hockey team based in the West of Scotland, have been making waves in university ice hockey since their inception in 2019. Founded by Oliver Ebdy, the team has grown in both stature and skill, becoming one of the three university hockey teams in Scotland. Alongside the Edinburgh Eagles, and the St. Andrews Typhoons, the Glasgow Stags have played a key role in promoting ice hockey within the academic community.

Born out of a deep passion for ice hockey and a desire to bring this thrilling sport to the heart of Scotland's largest city, the Glasgow Stags owe much of their early success to the vision of Oliver Ebdy. Under his leadership, the team has evolved significantly, making its mark on the university ice hockey scene.

Phil Eddy-Fox, who previously served as Head Coach, was instrumental in the Stags' development. His leadership laid a solid foundation for the team's success. Today, the Stags are guided by a dedicated coaching team consisting of Neil Aitken, Grant Macaskill, Josh McKeown, Aidan Spencer, Aisling Rafter, and Bradley Santelli. Together, they bring a wealth of experience and enthusiasm, helping the players hone their skills and build on the team’s legacy.

The Glasgow Stags proudly call Braehead Arena in Glasgow their home. This world-class facility has been the setting for countless training sessions and exhilarating home games, offering the perfect environment for the team to refine their skills and thrill their supporters.

Competing in the British University Ice Hockey Association, the Glasgow Stags regularly go head-to-head with other northern university teams like the Sheffield Bears and the Manchester Metros. These matches not only highlight the talent of university-level ice hockey players but also spark friendly rivalries that add excitement to the sport.

As a respected and competitive university ice hockey team in Scotland, the Glasgow Stags are dedicated to excellence. With their rich history, passionate coaching team, and unwavering commitment to the sport, they continue to represent the vibrant ice hockey community in the West of Scotland. As they glide forward into the future, the Glasgow Stags are poised to make an even bigger impact on the world of university ice hockey.
